Quick thanks....

Hello,

Just a quick thanks to all who came along to the Grove Cafe on Sunday. It was a great atmosphere with everyone hanging out in the cafe and the surrounding studios.
Cakes went down well, as always, and Viv managed some massages in a quiet corner

The three open studios really impressed people who didn't know that Hatherley Mews held so much talent, and the kids made the most of the
drawing table while mums dads and grown ups shopped around for jewellery, cards, bags, bath products, prints and kids clothes....

Here's us appearing in the selvedge newsletter, about the event.....

Introducing some of the designers... new additions

The E17 Designers are continually growing and new designers are often seen at the markets. A few new faces include Sarah Hawkins and Katie Gammie of Gammie Bags.

Sarah Hawkins, a local photographer, was specialising in 'Photograms', images created by placing objects, found in her garden, onto photographic paper and exposing it to light. This means that each one is unique, never to be created in the same way twice. An exhibition of these works was also displayed as part of the Leytonstone Art Trail and at the Changing Rooms Gallery in Lloyd Park.

Katie Gammie of Gammie Bags was selling a great little array of cushions and bangles as well as her trademark bags. Newly graduated, she is currently working on her own designs for fabric which she then hopes to turn into her crafty creations.

So as well as familiar faces at the designer markets you will often see new and other inspirational stalls propping up.

Introducing some of the designers..... Avril York

Avril York is a textile artist who is probably best known for her cute little sock toys she creates. Although Avril has a science background, she turned direction in her career when she discovered her love for textiles. However she often uses her influences from science in many of her artistic textile creations. Most notably was her show at the ICA gallery where she displayed her collection of pieces inspired by the particle formations of cocktails. Details of her amazing free hand stitchwork can be seen on the below business card with Egor, her pet cat. Contact Avril:

E17 Art Trail 2009......

Introducing some of the designers.....

Dolly and Dotty is a collection of African, recycled and vintage creations most notorious are the amazing cushions and small brooches from Nicolette Colville-Paris. Her stall is a little delight of colour and pattern and the vintage feel transports you instantly back in time. Nicolette applied her amazing handi-work to create the 'at home' cushion for the design of the latest poster for the E17 Art Trail event.

Girl Made Good is a collection of rather glamarous necklaces and silk scarves. Her button necklaces are a great explosion of colour. I dont know where she manages to find such amazing and quirky buttons! There is a great vintage essence to her work which is reminiscent of the 50's style.
